Who we are

NAERF – National Alternate Education Registration Framework – is a South African-based national registration and compliance framework established to support learners and education providers operating outside the traditional National Curriculum Statement (CAPS).

NAERF ensures that learners enrolled in alternative, international, hybrid, online, and non-traditional education pathways are properly registered, safeguarded, and accounted for within a structured national system, while maintaining high standards of educational quality, governance, and accountability. Not every learner thrives in the mainstream school environment, and NAERF provides a structured framework to recognise and support these learners.

Our Vision
To establish a nationally trusted registration and compliance framework that safeguards quality, accountability, and responsible governance within alternative education across South Africa, ensuring that every learner is recognised, protected, and supported within a lawful educational structure.
Mission
  • To provide structured registration pathways for learners enrolled in alternative curricula and education models.

  • To guide education centres toward lawful compliance, responsible governance, and sustainable operation.

  • To strengthen academic integrity through documented standards, qualified instruction, and transparent assessment practices.

  • To protect parental choice by supporting education providers within recognised regulatory frameworks.
